This course covers the database programming model under .NET known as ADO.NET. ADO.NET is an object model for dealing with databases in .NET. Although some of the concepts are similar to the classical ADO, there are some new concepts such as the Dataset. A Dataset is a disconnected object that can potentially contain all or part of the database including tables, constraints and their relationships. Thus for using databases in web applications, Dataset can provide a much higher performance for mostly read-only type of data. Further ADO.NET provides an elegant mechanism for invoking stored procedures and implementing database transactions. This course covers all the important aspects of database programming from intermediate to an advanced level including XML transformation of data and use of ADO.NET in Web Services. Examples of data driven applications using both Windows and Web applications is covered in the course. The programming language used is C#.
Individuals wanting to gain a good understanding of the database programming under .NET.
