DESCRIPTION (Return to Top)
The course provides detail guidance information for all personnel who will be participating in the Recovery of DB2 Applications, Databases and the DB2 Subsystem. Recovery detail includes Unit of Work Recovery, Current point in time and prior point in time recovery, Recovery analysis, Recovery from I/O errors, out of space conditions, building and implementing DB2 Recovery related utilities. Both local and remote site recovery considerations are covered. The course culminates in a simulated disaster recovery at a remote site. Students use separate DB2 subsystems in the workshops.
The workshops for this 3-day course are run on a remote mainframe running DB2 Version 10.
Both paper workshops and hands-on machine exercises will be utilized to achieve the course objectives.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the DB2 Recovery Related components and facilities
- Implement Database Recovery procedures
- Implement procedures to establish and recover to application and system-wide points of consistency
- Diagnose and Recover Database Objects
- Implement procedures to resolve and recover Indoubt units of recovery
- Design procedures for Offsite Recovery and Conditional Restart of User Databases

PREREQUISITES (Return to Top)
Working knowledge of TSO, ISPF and JCL is required. Introduction to DB2 recommended and a basic understanding of the DB2 utilities (DB2 Utility, DB2 Production Support, or equivalent knowledge is recommended).
